update for the week... witnessed the greatest change in my NS life.. Combat Engineer i'm no more.. Guardsman soon to-be.. dunno whether to be happy or not.. seems like i made a wrong decision in going there. no doubt, Guards is an elite formation of the SAF but i'm there as a pioneer and not a pure Guardsmen... they gave me a feeling tat they see us Engineers no up leh.. haiz i guess we are the true saikang warriors down there.. no wonder there's no regular Pioneer Platoon Sergeant in the coy.. anyway Guards Conversion Course is in March nxt yr.. we must prove our worth to them!
we had a Happy Hour on our 2nd day there.. it's their tradition to have a different kind of gathering every month and we had a steamboat dinner in the Mess this time. prior to the happy hour, we heard stories of the CSM as a heavy drinker and was nicknamed "mad dog". true enough, we were made to drink. first up was a jug of Tiger (4 cans) accompanied with 5 straws. that was jus the appetiser. nxt up was 4 jugs of coke + Guinness with lots of ice cubes.. we were split into 2 teams and had to down the mixture in the shortest possible time. siao lor ended up with our throats freezing. then came the jug of Guinness with straws.. luckily tat was the last for us. Ben, our Pioneer PS, was the man-of-the-day.. haha.. he was handed a can of Guinness shook by everyone of us and the best part was tat he had to drink by poking a hole on the can. i wonder how does it feel like to have beer squirting down ur thoat... i really hand it to Ben.. he did it in style.
btw today is payday! so eager to see how much my pay is.. it's only $520! damn disgusted at the figure.. I AM A SPECIALIST NOW and why r u still giving me Coporal pay? made us shout tat for fun during the rank presentation issit? and why is it tat Guards NSF pay is the same as Infantry? arent we elite warriors? puiiiiiiii

something that i want to share with u guys frm the book i jus bought today by Lance Armstrong, 7-time winner of Tour de France and cancer survivor.
"... I'm sure you'd like to hear about how Lance Armstrong became a Great American and an Inspiration To Us All, how he won the Tour de France, the 2,290-mile road race that's considered the single most grueling sporting event on the face of the earth. You want to hear about faith and mystery, and my miraculous comeback, and how I joined towering figures like Greg LeMond and Miguel Indurain in the record book. You want to hear about my lyrical climb through the Alps and my heroic conquering of the Pyrenees, and how it felt. But the Tour was the least of the story."
